Kaine Kulczak

The work of Peterborough-based Urban Artist Kaine Kulczak employs multi-layered stencil techniques to create utterly contemporary and frequently iconographic images. Guns and skulls and rock stars are all fair game for an urban artist but Kulczak tackles architecture, the built environment and urbanity too with skill and deference.

His 'Devil In The Detail' series of churches and cathedrals displays a remarkable level of patience and an exceptional eye for detail. His use of text in many of the images belies a subverted playfulness, especially in the inverted 'Beware Of the Dogs'.

Kulczak was a finalist in the 2006 'Liberte D'Expression' competition and a juror for the first ever 'Needhams Open Art Competition' for new and emerging artists in 2009. He has been published several times now and he has provided covers for two books, 'The Dangers Of Deferral' by Mark Leese and 'Self: Self-portraits from around the world' by Craig Kerrecoe.

He has also turned his hand to curating in recent years and is responsible for the Coca Cola sponsored 'Peterborough Young Carers Art Exhibition' events which attract art donations from around the world.
